LNP COMMITS $320,000 TO AIRLIE BEACH BOWLS CLUB

An elected LNP Government will provide $320,000 to provide crucial upgrades to the Airlie Beach Bowls Club.

Federal Member for Dawson, Andrew Willcox, said the club has long been a vital part of the community, welcoming players of all skill levels to enjoy lawn bowls and connect in a friendly and social atmosphere.

“I’m excited to announce that an LNP Government will provide $320,000 to the Airlie Beach Bowls Club to conduct much-needed upgrades for this local institution,” Mr Willcox said.

"Currently the front of the club needs the roof extended right down to the social area where members have BBQ’s to protect them from the hot sun and rain.

“They also require a fully accessible walkway ramp for those who live with a disability to help them get from the car park to the front door safely.

"The LNP is committed to supporting small regional clubs like the Airlie Beach Bowls Club, to ensure they can continue to serve the community long into the future.”

John Brown, Airlie Beach Bowls Club chairmen said, "These upgrades will ensure we can showcase Airlie Beach Bowls Club in the lead up to the 2032 Olympic Games,”

“We want to cater for people of all ages who come to Airlie Beach for their holidays and stuff like that so they can either come for a game of lawn bowls or a bite to eat for lunch or dinner.”

"This project has been on the club's wish list for many years, and I would like to thank the Federal Member for Dawson, Andrew Willcox and the LNP for backing small regional sporting clubs.

"This upgrade would enhance the facilities and attract new members allowing the club to continue to grow into the future and be available for generations to come.”
