MORE FUNDING NEEDED FOR HEALTHCARE

Under Labor, it has never been harder or more expensive to see a doctor, which forced more than 1.5 million Australians in 2023-24 to avoid seeing their GP because they just could not afford it.

“In the electorate of Dawson medical centres have been forced to close due to a shortage of doctors resulting in patients having to travel long distances to find another GP.” Federal Member for Dawson, Andrew Willcox said.

Under a new Agreement between the Albanese Government and all state and territory governments, the total Commonwealth contribution to state-run public hospitals will increase by 12 per cent to reach a record $33.91 billion in 2025-26.

The Coalition supports the additional $1.7 billion in funding for the public hospital system announced by the Albanese Government, because we know that Labor’s primary care crisis is putting unprecedented pressure on our hospitals.

“This isn’t enough to fix a broken healthcare system and is just another once-off, one-year funding band aid before the election to hide the Prime Minister’s failure.” Federal Member for Dawson, Andrew Willcox said.

“In stark contrast the former Coalition Government, who provided certainty and increased hospital funding by 86 percent.”

“In fact, hospital funding increased every single year under the former coalition government.”

“If elected a Dutton Coalition government is committed to getting Australia back on track.”
