DISASTER RELIEF GRANTS
The Federal and State Governments have activated Disaster Relief grants as this unfolding flood emergency continues in the electorate of Dawson.
The Townsville region is facing one of the most significant flood emergencies since the catastrophic events of 2019.
Personal Hardship Financial grants, Emergency Hardship Assistance grants, Essential Household Contents grants and Structural Assistant grants are available for people living in the following areas:
- Balgal Beach
- Cluden
- Hermit Park
- Idalia
- Oonoonba
- Railway Estate
- Rosslea
- Stuart
- South Townsville
- Burdekin
Personal Hardship Financial Grants - $180 per person, or up to $900 for families of 5 – Covers essential food, medication, clothing and temporary accommodation
Emergency Hardship Assistance Grants - $1,765 per person, or up to $ 5,300 for families – Can cover the replacement of household contents like whitegoods or linen for beds
Essential Household Contents Grants - $200 for safety inspection for water, electricity, gas and sewage, up to $4,200 for repairs or replacement of these services
Structural Assistant Grants - Uninsured, low income, owner-occupiers may receive up to a maximum of $80,000 to help repair your home to make it safe, secure and habitable
